What is Pilates?
In the 1930’s, Pilates devised a system of 34 exercises designed to rehabilitate, strengthen and invigorate mind and body.
As Pilates famously stated:
“it is the mind itself which heals the body!”
During a Pilates session, this is achieved through using the essential Pilates principles:
concentration, relaxation, centering, control, precision and breath.
We incorporate these elements into all of our sessions, one to one or in small groups, using imagery, visualisation, demonstration and hands on correction to help you.
We also have special semi-private sessions of no more than 5 clients
Practising Pilates regularly can help combat many of the problems associated with modern life: poor posture, weak abdominals, stiffness, back ache, pain, stress and inadequate breathing.
Session types
Private Pilates and semi-private and group Pilates courses for all levels.
Please see the class timetable for reservations and details.
What to wear
Light comfortable stretchy leggings and a t-shirt are ideal. Please bring along a medium size towel to fold and warm socks and a warm top for the relaxation phase.
Health & Safety
Pilates has many benefits and can be especially good for rehabilitation purposes due to the precise instruction offered, and small class sizes. However, if you have recently had surgery or have any health concerns please let us know in advance and also check with your doctor first.
We want to take care of you, please read and complete our health form before you arrive.
